This page lays out the requirements for submission of stories to Sci-Fi-Cafe.com and the rules governing payment of royalties to published authors. Format: Stories must be submitted in plain ASCII text for initial approval. If your story is very long, then you can just send the first 50 pages for approval, making a note at the top of the text of the word count of the full story and the fact that this is truncated. Once accepted a MS Word document of the full story may be requested. Method: Submissions will only be considered via the form at the bottom of this page. Long works may be split into volumes at the discression of the editor. Content: Work must be of the Sci-Fi / Dark / Weird genre. Works of horror or other genres will sometimes be considered. Although mature subjects are welcome, content must not contain any gratuitously sexual, violent or otherwise offensive references. Editing: The editor reserves the right to moderate work before publishing. Where significant modifications are proposed, the author will be consulted and will have the opportunity to negotiate edits or withdraw the work. It is always the intention of the editor to attempt to preserve the spirit of the author's work. Acceptance: The editor reserves the right to reject any piece of work if it does not comply with the conditions set out in this agreement and also for any other reason without explanation. Ownership: The author warrants that the works are their original creation, that they are free from any other publishing contracts, agreements or covenants that might conflict with this agreement. Exploitation: The author agrees to grant, in perpetuity non-exclusive rights to sci-fi-cafe.com to exploit the work in ventures including but not limited to compilations, printed form, electronic distribution or development for other media. Copyright and moral ownership of the work will remain that of the author. The Author will be appropriately credited in all publications. Sci-fi-cafe.com will make what it feels is a fair but non-negotiable compensation to the author where the work is exploited in forms not specifically covered in this agreement. Royalties Calculation: Royalties are accrued from the date that the story is first published by Sci-Fi-Cafe.com or any of it's other partner publishers and distributors. Royalties accumulate at the rate specified in the currently accepted contract. Payment: In order to receive royalties, the author must have a PayPal account. Royalty Tariff Correct as of 14th July 2007 and refer to the sum payable for each sale of the work. Espresso Shots: £0.05 (GBP) per Espresso shot published in each compilation.
